There will be a Big Bag Giveaway every week, along with “Giving Back Booths” for community service organizations. “Farm to Fork” classes will also be offered during the market season.

Children of all ages and reading levels are invited to read with a registered therapy dog and the dog’s handler. Each child will spend 15 minutes with a dog. Time slots are available on a first come, first serve basis. Parental permission is required, and permission forms are available at the library. Genealogy: The Douglas County Genealogy Group begins meetings on Thursday, September 7. In a new location.  The meetings are now in the Douglas County Senior Center in the Carson Valley Medical Center Room.  The Groups the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month from September to May except for December.  The September 7 program covers getting started on a new year with new officers; and getting started and organizing your genealogy, facilitated by our new president Pam Ludwig.  Everyone is invited – beginners to very experienced genealogist.

Soccer Shoot: The Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department will host the Tahoe Douglas Elks Lodge No. 2670 Soccer Shoot on Sept. 9th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lampe Park. There is no cost to participate. The event is an accuracy and distance skills competition open to all youth within and outside of Douglas County. Thirsty Third Thursday: Main Street Gardnerville hosts its Thirsty Third Thursday Wine Walks from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Main Street Gardnerville District. Each event has a theme so come dressed up in support of the theme and you could win a $25 gift certificate to one of our participating businesses. The cost to attend the wine walk is $20 to register and receive a commemorative light blue logoed glass which can be used at all our future Wine Walks.
