Jesse Mason Hook

Jesse Mason Hook, age 41, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, October 1, 2017 from complications of pneumonia in Carson City, where he has resided for the past 26 years.

Jesse was surrounded by his parents, Robert & Donna Hook, and siblings, Dustin, Andrea, Melissa, and Travis.

He was adored by his 9 nieces and 4 nephews – “Uncle” was his proudest title. Jesse was born December 31, 1975 in Tarzana, California and was a playful and vibrant boy until a tragic accident left him severely disabled.

As news of his condition spread, a floodgate of volunteers within the community and local LDS congregations came to assist with daily home therapies for Jesse – which lasted for five years – and provided incalculable support, love, and enduring friendships for our family during such a challenging time. Our warmest thanks to those saintly helping hands so long ago and to those who have provided stellar care for him at Eagle Valley Children’s Home in Carson City. We thank you for your Christ-like service.

Since his accident, the influence Jesse has had on countless people – without him uttering a single word – is humbling. Our loss is profound, and yet we rejoice in the reality that he now stands tall and noble and free from earthly limitations. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 11 AM Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 1095 Spruce St. in Minden, Nevada.

Obituaries are an important way to celebrate the lives of loved ones within the community. They help carry on, if even in a small way, the legacy of the friends, family and neighbors that have helped weave this community into the wonderful place it is. At the Carson Valley Times, we run obituaries free of charge. To celebrate your loved one, please e-mail obituary information to editor@carsonvalleytimes.com. Feel free to include a picture. If you’re at a loss for what to write, start simply with who the person was, and what they meant to you. Include a birth date and date of death, how they came to reside in Carson Valley and any other details you feel are important. If there are planned memorial services, make sure to include a date, time and address.
