Good Morning, Carson Valley: Sept. 14

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning in some areas of the region during Wednesday’s storms that rolled over Northwestern Nevada.
It was the first such warning for the region since 2014 and only the fifth since 2000. A funnel cloud was spotted in Yerington and a water spout appeared over Lake Tahoe.
We received rain in the Valley Wednesday afternoon and evening, but little else.
That should, supposing today’s forecast holds, be the end of the evening thunderstorms at least through the weekend.
Look for a high of 79 degrees today with winds gusting up to 30 mph.
A READing Paws therapy dog will be available at the Minden library between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m., today. Children of all ages and reading levels are invited to read with a registered therapy dog and the dog’s handler. Each child will spend 15 minutes with a dog. Time slots are available on a first come, first serve basis. Parental permission is required, and permission forms are available at the library. The Douglas County Public Library is located at 1625 Library Lane in Minden.
That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day.
