GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — The Record-Courier reports that Minden balloon pilot and retired East Fork firefighter Allen Anderson won the gold medal at the Great Reno Balloon Race on Sunday. Their story can be found here.

It is September 11, and while we haven’t been made aware of any local remembrance or memorial ceremonies, we do have this story from 2015 of some of the subtle tributes the East Fork Fire Protection District carries on. Flags are flying at half staff today in honor of Patriot Day and the National Day of Service and Remembrance.

Look for a high of 87 degrees this afternoon with the potential return of afternoon thunderstorms. Today should be the hottest of the week, with daytime highs expected to decline into the 70s by the weekend.

Photos from Friday night’s Douglas football game against Spanish Springs can be found here. Spanish Springs came up with a late stop to preserve a 26-20 win.

That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day.
