Douglas High School Graduates Head To Orlando For International HOSA Competition

MINDEN, Nev. — Recent Douglas High graduates Allison Dodd and Kaitlyn Palaroan will be headed to Orlando Florida to compete at the international level for HOSA — Future Health Care Professionals this summer.
Allison and Kaitlyn have participated in the biomedical program at Douglas High School for the past three years. The program includes coursework to prepare students for careers in the medical field.
As part of the coursework, they are required to join the CTSO (Career Technical Student Organization) HOSA – Future Health Care Professionals.
They competed in the Health Career Display competition at the state level in Reno last March and were awarded the Gold Medal.
This qualified them to compete at the international level in Orlando, Florida June 20-24. Their award-winning display showcased the career of a Flight Nurse – a career that is very vital to our rural community.
Allison will be attending Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, CA to study nursing. Kaitlyn will be heading to the University of Nevada, Reno to major in Health Sciences leading into a nursing career also.
