Swimming & Diving: Douglas Boys Claim Fourth-Consecutive Regional Team Title

CARSON CITY, Nev. — The Douglas High School boys swimming & diving team claimed its fourth-consecutive regional team title at the Carson Aquatic Center on Saturday.

Douglas outdistanced the nearest competitor (Galena)by 99 points in the team standings.

The Douglas girls team saw its five-year run of regional titles come to a close as the Lady Tigers finished third behind Reno and Bishop Manogue.

Joe Sullivan won the 50 free for Douglas in 22.89 seconds and the 100 free in 48.40, Alexander Laningham won the regional diving title with a score of 221.05, Justin Hight won the 100 fly (53.63 seconds) and 100 back (54.54) and the boys 200 free relay team (Joey Smithen, Daniel Taylor, Hight and Josh Smithen), and boys 400 free relay team (Joey Smithen, Taylor Knowles, Josh Smithen and Joe Sullivan) each won regional titles as well.

The Douglas girls 200 medley relay team, the boys 200 medley relay team advanced to next week’s state championships along with the regional champions, as well as Josh Smithen  (100 back),  Cailey Tollman (500 free) and Chris Manning  (100 breaststroke).
