Swimming: Tigers Shine At Aqua 5

MINDEN, Nev. — The Douglas High swim team competed in an Aqua 5 meet Saturday against Hug, Lowry, North Tahoe, Reno, South Tahoe, Sparks, Truckee and Wooster.

Teams scores are not kept in an Aqua 5, which serves as an individual pentathlon of swimming events with each swimmer competing in the 50 free, the 100 fly, the 100 free, the 100 backstroke and the 100 breaststroke.

Douglas High’s Josh Smithen was the top individual finisher in the boys standings, turning in a combined time of 4:17.48 for the five events.

Joey Smithen was third (4:21.35), Joe Sullivan was fourth (4:29.72) and Taylor Knowles was sixth (4:41.59).

The Douglas girls were led by Kaila Duffy (5:07.55) in fourth and the Taylor Sullivan (5:07.58) in fifth.
