Baseball: McQueen Comes Back To Defeat Douglas

RENO, Nev. — The Douglas baseball team built a 9-7 lead through six innings in a back-and-forth battle with McQueen Thursday afternoon, but McQueen came up with the final blow, scoring three unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh to escape with a 10-9 walkoff win in Reno.
Isaiah Schat struck out seven in 4.2 innings of work for Douglas.
Haydn Brown, Kindel Isham, Haden Keller, Schat and Jayden Foster each hit triples in the loss and Riley Wilkinson doubled.
Isham went 3-for-4 at the plate and Trivitt, Brown and Wilkinson each collected two hits.
Brown drove in three runs, Keller and Schat each drove in two and Trivitt drove in one.
Douglas dropped to 0-2 in Northern 4A action. The Tigers host North Valleys at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The Douglas junior varsity squad fell 7-3 in Minden Thursday afternoon.
Zak Korzeniewski went 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBIs and Jonathan Antti went 3-for-4 with a double.
Austin Grant went 2-for-3 at the plate for Douglas. Elijah Hinojosa struck out nine with four walks in 5.1 innings of work. Elijah Lyons struck out three in 1.2 innings of work.
