MINDEN, Nev. — The Galena High School boys golf team won the first Sierra League tournament of the season, shooting a combined 372 to finish ahead of Bishop Manogue, Carson and Damonte Ranch in order at Sierra Sage Golf Course on Tuesday.
Manogue’s Ollie Osborne took individual medalist honors with a 68.
Douglas turned in a team score of 621 with Jack Smith, Dylan McCollough, Tobin Mayotto, AJ Hagenbach, Tyler Kellar and Grant Kuhlmann competing.
“Kids were excited and nervous, had three play their very first varsity match,” Douglas coach Evan Evans said. “The team is very young and inexperienced, but has room to grow and improve.
“We talked on the trip home about what their approach needs to be this season and where they can improve and play better as the season advances.”
Next tournament is the 4th of April at Eagle Valley Golf Course.
