GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Spring is coming and the Heritage Park Gardens volunteers are planning all kinds of ways to celebrate. Two Springtime events are planned, three days with kids’ activities, and garden beds are ready to rent for the growing season.

March 25th is our next workday and an opportunity to sign-up for a garden bed, starting at 10 am. From 11-12:30 there will be activities for the kids. They’ll plant a potato bag to take home, play with worms, plant some milkweed for the Monarch butterflies, plant some cold weather vegetables, and make a hoop bed cover to protect them.

Celebrate Earth Day April 22nd by volunteering at the gardens for an hour. Besides the workday, from 10-2 there will be guided labyrinth walks, speakers, kids’ activities at 11, and bed signups.

Come back on May 20th from 10-2 for the Open House and Plant Faire. Starter plants will be available with a donation and another round of kids’ activities will start at 11.
Bed rentals run $30 for a small plot (~4’x5’), $50 for a medium (~4’x10’) or $70 for a large (~4’x15’), first come, first served. Contact Carol at cjsandmeier@aol.com if you’d like to reserve one.
The kids’ activities require an adult to stay on the property and will run from 11 to approx. 12:30. Please RSVP to Vicki at vrbates@charter.net or 790-0721 at least two days beforehand so we have enough materials on hand.

Monthly workdays start at 10am on the 4th Saturday of every month and new volunteers are always welcome. Heritage Park Gardens is located at 1461 Ezell St., just off Gilman in downtown Gardnerville and is a project of Main Street Gardnerville.
