GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — For the better part of a half Thursday afternoon, the brand new Douglas County girls high school lacrosse club had the better of the more experience club from Galena.

In the end, Galena pulled away in the second half to grab a 12-3 win in Douglas’ first-ever home match.

Douglas scored off of the opening face-off when senior Kat Wulstein scooped up the ball and raced down the left side before placing a shot in the net.

Douglas later extended its lead to 2-0 and held it there until nearly the end of the first quarter.

Next up, Douglas travels to Damonte Ranch March 16. The club hosts Coyote March 21 at 4:30 p.m.
