Service Restored After Widespread Internet, Phone, Cable Outage Friday

MINDEN, Nev. — Service was restored after a widespread internet, cable TV and phone outage occurred Friday morning.

South Tahoe Now reported that that outage occurred when a garbage truck backed into, and severed, a fiber optic cable off of Airport Road in Minden.

Charter, Sprint and Verizon customers were affected around the Valley and at Stateline.

Crews worked throughout the day Friday repairing and resplicing 80 fibers that had been cut.  Service was restored before 10 pm Friday.
