MINDEN, Nev. — The Sierra Lutheran varsity girls basketball team closed out the regular season with a 46-32 win over Coleville Monday evening, making up a game that had been postponed Friday due to major flooding in the region.

Grace Bonafede led the Falcons with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocks.

Also, Marin Woomer got seven rebounds and Clare Davison managed nine points and eight steals. The Lady Falcons were victorious with an ending score of 46-32.

Sierra Lutheran improved to 13-1 and finished the regular season with the Western 1A League title.

On Saturday, the Falcons picked up a 40-35 win over Whittell.

Seniors Jee Benton, Grace Bonafede, Claire Cochran, Clare Davison, and Marin Woomer were honored prior to the game.

The Falcons battled against the Warriors’ tough plays, resisting their demanding offensive strategies.

Led by Aleyna Gilson with 11 points and three rebounds, Sierra Lutheran executed outstanding offensive plays. Also, Clare Davison had eight points and five steals.

Sierra Lutheran will take on Wells High School at Adobe Middle School in Elko on Thursday in the first round of the regional playoffs. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:40 p.m.

Correction: The editor incorrectly reported that the Sierra Lutheran regular season had ended after Saturday’s game against Whittell, and that the Falcons had a 13-1 record following that contest. After Monday’s game against Coleville, the regular season is over and the Falcons’ record is now 13-1. The reporter, Ms. McKee, had reportedly both points factually accurate.
