Snow Falling In Carson Valley Thursday

MINDEN, Nev. — 2 p.m. update — Carson Valley, along with much of Northern Nevada, is under a Winter Weather Advisory from the National Weather Service through 10 p.m. Thursday evening.

Reports of anywhere from 1-4 inches fell Thursday morning, with snow tapering off after 11 a.m.

National Weather Service forecasts 3-5 inches of snow for the Valley during the day with another 1-2 inches possible tonight.

Plows were kept busy around the Valley Thursday morning as chain and snow tire requirements were in effect for much of the morning. Crews responded to numerous reports of vehicles sliding off the roadway.

Due to the weather, Western Nevada College campuses will close at 2 p.m. today.

As of 11 a.m., power had been restored to the 84 NV Energy Customers in Wellington from an outage that began around 5 a.m. Thursday.
