GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Fire crews extinguished a three-alarm fire in the apartments between Raley’s and Smith’s at 1375 Lampe Drive in Gardnerville Tuesday evening.

Deputies arrived on scene after reports came in around 5:40 p.m and advised there was a fully involved fire and that evacuations were in progress.

East Fork Fire arrived and it was elevated to a three-alarm fire, with mutual aid responses from surrounding departments, including Carson City, Storey County, Reno, Tahoe Douglas, Truckee Meadows and Mono County. REMSA also responded.

There were two injuries, both non-life threatening, one person transported to Carson Valley Medical Center, and one treated at the scene.

East Fork Fire has 16 pieces of equipment committed to the fire, with 50 total firefighters, including surrounding agencies. CERT is providing rehab services to the firefighters.

The American Red Cross has been activated to assist the displaced residents. The Red Cross reported it was providing aid to 30-plus individuals.

Anyone interested in helping the victims of the fire out can donate to the East Fork Fire Protection burn fund at 1694 County Road in Minden or through the American Red Cross, Northern Nevada Chapter.

CORRECTION: The Carson Valley Times initially reported the fire as having been extinguished approximately 35 minutes before it was put out. We’d misheard some of the emergency services scanner traffic as they were staging responding units to the scene as the situation was developing and reported it incorrectly.
