Overnight Snow Blankets Carson Valley (PHOTOS)
GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — An overnight snow storm left anywhere from 1 to 3 inches in the Ranchos to 4-6 inches further south into Ruhenstroth and Topaz Ranch Estates Thursday morning. There were also reports of up to 10 inches in some areas of the foothills.
As of 8:30 a.m., Chains or snow tires were required south of town on Highway 395, as well as on Kingsbury Grade, Spooner Summit and on Highway 395 over Indian Hills and into Carson City.
There were a number of power outages reported in Douglas County, with 209 NV Energy customers affected around 9 a.m.
That number was revised down to 128 customers as of noon with estimated time of restoration being reevaluated.
The bulk of the remaining outages are in Gardnerville.
A mix of rain and snow is expected to continue through the day, tapering off Friday and leaving the Valley with clear skies and temperatures in the mid-50s over the weekend. Today, the National Weather Service is setting the forecast with a high of 43 degrees.
