Carson Valley Under High Wind Warning Wednesday

MINDEN, Nev. — The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for Wednesday, lasting through 10 p.m. with winds ranging mostly between 25 and 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph (75 in wind prone areas).

The NWS warns of localized damage to trees and fences with possible power outages and potential impacts to aviation travel at Reno-Tahoe Airport.

Along with the wind warning, the chance of rain during the day was set at 40 percent, increasing to 100 percent in the evening. A daytime high of 57 degrees was expected.

Rain, and potentially snow, is in the forecast for Thursday.

As of noon, NV Energy was reporting one power outage in Douglas County, affecting 23 customers in Northern Douglas County. Power is expected to be restored by 1:30 p.m.
