Staff Reports

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — All Douglas County schools are on a one-hour delay this morning. Douglas County School District schools will open one hour later than regularly scheduled, and transportation to school will be delayed one hour. You should expect buses to pick up students one hour later than their normal pick-up time. Students will return home at their regularly scheduled time.  This one-hour delay is in effect for both Lake and Valley schools.

After snow throughout the day Sunday left varying totals of accumulation throughout the Valley (regardless, everyone got something), the National Weather service warns of slick, covered-over roads this morning. All main highways in the Valley — 395, 88, Kingsbury and Spooner — have chain or snow tire requirements this morning.

We’re expected to have mostly clear skies outside, with a high of 32 degrees today. There is a 20 percent chance of snow Tuesday and another 20 percent chance of snow Wednesday night, but otherwise, the week as a whole should be clear with daytime highs increasing to the high 40s by the end of the week.

If you have any photos of the snow, or your morning commute, to share with us this morning, feel free to e-mail them to joey@carsonvalleytimes.com, post to our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cvalleytimes or tag us on Instagram @cvalleytimes.
