GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — The 20th annual Parade of Lights rolled down Main Street Saturday night in Gardnerville and Minden, with more than 50 floats participating – many adorned in emerald colors and Wizard of Oz decorations and themes.

The Record-Courier reports awards were given to the Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club  (Non-profit), Girl Scouts Troop No. 331 (youth), Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital (business) and Town of Gardnerville (government).

MINDEN, Nev. — The Town of Minden annual Gazebo Lighting ceremony included live music, food, the big event and a surprise marriage proposal conducted in bright lights in front of the gazebo Friday night. (She said yes).




A heavy windstorm wiped away much of the program Thursday evening. but the Town of Gardnerville still managed to kick off the Christmas season in style.

The winds, which ranged between 25 and 40 mph for most of the day Thursday, subsided as the evening program was starting.

Crowds gathered around fire pits and watched as the Heritage Park tree and gazebo were lit for the season.

The fireworks show, which had been in jeopardy due to the weather, received the all-clear from the East Fork Fire Marshal just before the start of the program.

Minden will host its kickoff Friday evening at Minden Park beginning at 5 p.m. The 20th annual Parade of Lights is set for Saturday evening at 5 p.m.
