GE Family Concert Series Continues July 17 With ‘Savannah Blue’ In Minden Park

Editor’s Note: The Beatles tribute band “Imagine” was originally scheduled to play the July 17 concert, but had to cancel due to an injury to one of the band members.

MINDEN, Nev. — The Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department 2015 GE Family Concert Series continues with the next concert on Friday July 17th featuring Savannah Blue, A Southern Rock Review and co-sponsored by Edgewood Companies.

Savannah BlueSpend an evening of music with family and friends at Minden Park. All concerts start at 6:30pm and end at 8:30pm with the exception of August 28 which will start at 6pm and end at 8pm. Concerts are free of charge due to the generous contributions of local businesses and organizations.

SAVANNAH BLUE has been a popular fixture on the Northern California blues and rock club scene since 1995 as well as more recent success bringing A Southern Rock Revue to a growing number California and Nevada festivals.

Founding members Dean Fisher (Lead guitar), and Mike Cochran (Bass) have blazed a Southern Rock trail that fans love follow again and again. Along with Mike Macchi (Vocals, Harmonica), Scott Johnson (Lead Guitar, Vocals), Larry Audino (Keyboard, Guitar, Vocals) and Tony Vivilacqua (Drums, Vocals) Savannah Blue brings you bring you the best show possible.

Not only do they play the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers, SAVANNAH BLUE is presenting music from the entire genre. Expect to hear great Southern Rock Classics like “Keep On Smilin,” “If You Want To Get To Heaven” or “The South’s Gonna Do It Again,” along with perennial Allman & Skynyrd favorites. Others of the Southern genre, like The Outlaws, The Marshall Tucker Band and Molly Hatchet are represented with their most popular material. Additionally, Southern icons such as 38 Special, The Charlie Daniels Band and ZZ Top are featured in the SAVANNAH BLUE repertoire!

The result is a power-packed, highly-charged “tour d’ force” of the best that those “good old Southern boys” ever served up. Hit after hit, SAVANNAH BLUE turns out ballads and rockers alike, faithfully reproducing the sound, the spirit and the intensity of the original artist’s recordings.

The band has shared concert stages with Joe Bonnamassa, Elvin Bishop, Jackie Green, Greg Allman, Joan Jett and Molly Hatchet and others. Ever popular with the motorcycle crowd, SAVANNAH BLUE has played numerous poker runs and biker events like The Redwood Run and Street Vibrations. They have played many popular festivals across Northern California and Nevada, Northern California’s better clubs, private and charity events and have built a strong, loyal fan base.

Concert Reminders:

In order to allow everyone to enjoy the concerts the event will be closing 5th street to allow motor homes parking and concessions. RV parking will be allowed in a designated area only starting at 9am the day of the concerts and an RV Pass is required. Please call the recreation department prior to the concerts to receive a pass at 782-5500 ext. 1.
RV parking at other locations around the park obscures the line of sight for Minden homeowners around the park.

No lawn space can be reserved/sectioned off until 7am the day of concert.

Please no blankets on the lawn until after 5pm the day of the concert. Blankets left out for the day can damage the grass.

For the benefit of all visitors to Minden Park who wish to enjoy the concert series, reserved/sectioned off spaces must be no larger than 10’ x 10’.

If tape is used to reserve a section, the tape must be removed for safety and visibility reasons prior to the start of the concert.

Children must be supervised at all times. Playing and climbing on the planters and ramp to the restroom are prohibited. Throwing of hard balls is prohibited for safety reasons but Nerf balls will be allowed as long as they are being used safely.
