GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Owners of the Dollar Store & Party Connection, located off of Highway 395 in Gardnerville near Walmart, reported on the Minden/Gardnerville Community Blog Sunday they are hoping to re-open as soon as they can following Saturday evening’s structure fire, which took about 40 minutes for East Fork fire crews to extinguish.

They said no foul play was suspected and that East Fork would be investigating the cause on Sunday. We’ll update once the cause is reported.

We are looking at clear skies today and through the week, with today’s high of 83 degrees gradually climbing to around 88 by Friday. There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms sitting somewhere around Sunday, so we’ll be keeping an eye on that to see what it turns out to be.

The calendar is pretty light today, with the Douglas baseball team hosting the Sierra Sundevils at 5 p.m. in summer league action, but we’ll be busy continuing to tackle the list of stories that have piled up during recent emergency services coverage as well as fixing up some longer-running projects like re-installing our football section (which has been dormant since the great web host migration in May) and refreshing it for the upcoming year.

That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day.
