GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Power was fully restored to all of Douglas County at 12:21 a.m. Tuesday after a lightning-caused outage affected 2,836 NV Energy customers starting at 7:11 p.m. Monday evening. The bulk of the outage had been solved before 10 p.m., with the remainder coming online later in the evening. You can read more here.
The thunderstorms have a 30 percent shot at returning again this afternoon and evening as highs approach 95 degrees with winds in the 5-10 mph range. The chance of precipitation and thunderstorms and precipitation continues all week with temperatures with highs peaking at 97 degrees Wednesday and Thursday.
The Washington Fire south of Markleeville is now 56 percent contained as crews continue to wrap that site up. The latest update on that is here.
The Douglas County Public Library continues its series of DUPLO and LEGO building club sessions today. The Preschool stories building club is for children ages 3 to 5 and takes place from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. A LEGO Building Club for children ages 6 and up will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. And an additional brick building program, Brick Play, takes place from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. The Douglas County Public Library is located at 1625 Library Lane in Minden.
