Staff and Douglas County Community Relations Reports

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — East Fork and BLM are gaining access to a fire in the Pine Nuts off of Stockyard Road and East Valley, approximately five miles back.

Air attack and a helicopter report the fire is approximately one-third to a half of an acre with some tree torching. As of 1 p.m., forward rate of burn on the fire had been stopped. Officials on scene assessed it with significant potential for growth.

BLM has three engines, a dozer, air attack, helicopter and chief officer while East Fork has a brush engine, paramedic rescue and chief officer assigned to the fire.

No structures are threatened and no cause is yet identified. The public is urged to report smoke sightings to 9-1-1. All of the recent lightning gives us the potential for smoldering fires to exist that come to life in the heat of the afternoon. We will continue to update you as updates become available.
