Power Restored After Outage Affects Thousands in Gardnerville, Ranchos During Monday Evening Thunderstorm

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Fire crews responded to a report of a lightning strike to a power pole near Main River Drive on the Dresslerville Colony of the Washoe Tribe shortly at 7:11 p.m. Monday evening.

Initial reports were that power lines were on the ground. A thunderstorm brought steady rain with a number of lightning strikes over the Valley. 

NV Energy crews responded to the scene of the downed power lines and restored power gradually through the evening, starting at around 9:30 p.m. to parts of the Ranchos. At 12:21 a.m. Tuesday, all customers had been restored.

NV Energy reported 2,836 customers in Gardnerville and the Ranchos without power during the height of the outage.
