Good Morning, Carson Valley: June 16

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — We had a question yesterday about why a number of Nevada Highway Patrol vehicles were parked alongside Sunridge with officers conducting an apparent investigation in the middle of the road.
We asked around a bit and learned that it was the NHP accident investigation team instructing an academy class on how to conduct such investigations. So if you were wondering what was going on, there it is.
We roll into the second half of June with the farmers market in Minden on Esmeralda Avenue this evening from 4 to 8 p.m.
Starting today, the Douglas County Public Library will host a Preschool Stories and DUPLO® Building Club starting June 16 and continuing every Tuesday through July 21. The Preschool stories building club is for children ages 3 to 5 and takes place from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. A LEGO Building Club for children ages 6 and up will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. And an additional brick building program, Brick Play, takes place from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. The Douglas County Public Library is located at 1625 Library Lane in Minden. Information, visit douglas.lib.nv.us, or call 775-782-9841.
Rounding out today’s calendar, the Douglas American Legion 16U squad is at Reed at 5 p.m. this evening
On the weather front, look for clear skies, a high of 89 degrees and winds in the 10 to 15 mph range this afternoon. It’ll slowly climb into the mid-90s by this weekend.
Also, we see Scott Schrantz, owner and operator of one of our favorite local endeavors – Around Carson – is celebrating his 10 anniversary of running the blog. Scott graciously gave us one of our first plugs when we first started up and also helped us out with some technological questions along the way. If you’ve never checked out his site, it’s worth it. Interesting historical posts and wonderful photos. Here’s his anniversary post.
That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day.
