GARDNERVILLE, Nev., June 10, 2015 — We’ll be on flash flood watch all day with heavy rain in the forecast throughout. It’s been raining most of the night and into this morning already. Storm cells are slow-moving and should continue through the night. We’ll obviously be keeping an eye out for any emergencies that might arise.

It’s all supposed to clear out by Thursday and we’ll be looking at temperatures in the high 80s with clear skies through the entirety of Carson Valley Days. Speaking of which, the full Carson Valley Days event schedule can be found here.

Despite the rain, it’s Farmers Market Day in Carson Valley, though one has a temporary venue change, just for today. The Lampe Park Farmers Market will be in the parking lot of the Douglas County Community & Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. due to Carson Valley Days preparations.

However, the first Douglas County Public Library storytime in the park session of the season, we’re told, will still be at Lampe Park at 10:30 a.m.

And the Sierra Chef Farm To Fork Farmers Market will also run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Sierra Gourmet Grill, 1378 Highway 395 in Gardnerville.

Douglas County Sheriff’s officers apprehended a suspect in the string of Chichester Estates burglaries on Tuesday afternoon, apparently catching him in the act. Read more about that here.

As we mentioned on Facebook on Tuesday, we’re in the process of closing out a six-month long effort on a retrospective of when the film crews came to Minden to shoot “The Wizard” with Fred Savage, Christian Slater and company. Anyone with any photos, stories or autographs to share from that time is welcome to send them to or post to our Facebook page at

And we are searching for Carson Valley’s Signature Salad, with the nomination round running all week. You can find the ballot here.

That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day.
