GARDNERVILLE, Nev., May 11, 2015  — It’s going to be a busy day out in Carson Valley, most notably in Minden’s Heritage District.

Christopher Bently, along with Miles Construction will officially break ground for the restoration of the Heritage District on the future site of the Bently Heritage Estate Distillery at 2 p.m. at 1609 Water Street.

The Minden Flour Mill and Minden Creamery buildings, both listed on the National Register of Historic Places, are being restored as part of the project.

Douglas High has a trio of athletes signing national letters of intent in a variety of sports this afternoon at 2:30 in the high school commons. Nick Abreu will sign with Pitzer, Adam Dack will sign with Adams State and KD Dennart will sign with William Jessup.

Our search for Carson Valley’s Signature Pasta Dish begins later this morning with the nomination round of Pasta Wars. Keep an eye out for that.

We are more or less fully operational on our new host server and web site layout. There are bugs still to work out (the weird “edit/delete” link just below the featured stories, for example; or the inability to link into the featured stories on iPhones). We’re working on those, but we’d really appreciate knowing if you run into any trouble in your travels through the site. Just send us a quick note at and we’ll put it on our list of items to address in the coming days. We’re also re-working the menu of feature pages (Calendar, Police scanner, etc.), and will hopefully have that completed by the end of the day.

On the weather front, expect sunny and breezy conditions this afternoon with a high of 70 degrees and wind gusts up to 30 mph. There are more potential rain and thunderstorms looming around the end of the week. We’ll be watching how those develop.

Outside of that, we have a couple stories we’d like to bring you today, but a lot is going to depend on how the morning plays out.

That’s a full lid for now. Take care out there and have a great day.
