Next to impossible to define because it is always something different, the Pavement Scraper is entirely the cook’s choice with eggs, hash browns and any combination of other items. Your one call is spicy or mild. We can promise the portion size is out of this world..

I’d Eat There: “Shrimp and Grits”

grits1685 Highway 395 Suite B, Minden

For a quick trip into the Bayou, try these cheesy hominy grits with garlic sautéed prawns, finished with white wine, butter and parsley. Garnished with fresh tomato and diced green onion.

Or, if none of the finalists suit your tastes, you can try one of the nominated honorable mentions.

Katie’s Country Kitchen: “$5.99 Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs”

1627 Highway 395, Minden, 775-783-6664

CVIA long-time staple for those seeking a late-night breakfast or a traditional morning treat, the chicken fried steak is a hearty portion, the biscuits are made fresh, the gravy is as tasty as it gets and the two eggs are served the way you order them. It looks great, it tastes fantastic, it fills you up and it’s one heck of a bargain . . . . but it just won’t sit still long enough for a picture!

Hamdogs: “Hamdogs Omlette”
