Swimming & Diving: Douglas Comes Up Big At Aqua 5

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — The Douglas High School swim team put on something of a show at the South Lake Tahoe pool Saturday during an Aqua 5 meet.

The Aqua is the in-water version of the pentathlon with swimmers competing in the 50 free, 100 fly, 100 free, 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke. The swimmers are ranked in order of lowest cumulative times.

Shelby Koontz led the charge on the girls side, winning the girls pentathlon. Douglas claimed 10 of the top 15 spots, seven of the top 10 and four of the top five.

Savannah Chappell was third, Taylor Sullivan was fourth, Jordan Knowles was fifth, Lilyanne Bickmore finished sixth, Kayla Rufo was seventh, Kaila Duffy was eighth, Emily Dack was 11th, Madison Harvey was 13th and Manon Ahart was 15th.

On the boys side, Josh Smithen and Kevin Smithen swept the top two places for Douglas, Logan Killion and Justin Hight were fourth and fifth respectively, Jason Lowther and CJ Hill-Holeman was seventh and eighth and Jayden Forbes was 14th.
