Carson Valley’s Signature Steak, Prime Rib Or Beef Dinner For 2015: “The Top Sirloin” From J.T. Basque Bar & Dining Room

Voting was close early on but in the end, a Gardnerville institution – the J.T. Basque Bar & Dining Room – commanded nearly 50 percent of the final vote in claiming the title of Carson Valley’s Signature Steak with its Top Sirloin.
All four finalists were strong, with voters mentioning they’d have a tough time actually choosing between any of the four. The good news is, you have all year to try them out before next year’s round of voting.
Next month we’ll be searching for Carson Valley’s signature appetizer, which puts just about every restaurant in the Valley in the running. Here’s a closer look at the four finalists from this month:
CVT BEEF WARS FINALISTS 2015
“Top Sirloin Steak” – J.T. Basque Bar & Dining Room

Hours: Monday-Friday 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.; 5-9 p.m.; Saturday 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.; 4:30-9 p.m.
Served as either an entree or as the Top Sirloin Steak Sandwich (pictured), the dish is on the menu every day topped with roasted garlic. Whenever possible, the J.T. serves local beef, including steaks from the family’s Ranch One in Genoa. Ranch One beef is all natural grass fed, free of antibiotics and growth stimulants. Dinner is served with soup, salad, stew, beans, french fries, red wine, coffee & ice cream.
Minden Meat & Deli: “Yukon Gold Tri-Tip”

Hours: Monday-Sunday 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
The Yukon Gold Tri-Tip comes from Creekstone Farms, a USDA Choice or higher Black Angus beef. It is trimmed then placed in Minden Meat & Deli’s pressure tumbler with its marinade for 25 minutes in which the Yukon Gold marinade is infused into the beef. Once ready, the tri-tip is ready to be purchased raw to take home and grill yourself or it is cooked at the deli and sliced thin for their signature tri-tip sandwiches. It is also available grilled and sliced a little thicker for catering events.
CV Steak – “9 ounce Filet Mignon”

The CV Steak 9-ounce Filet Mignon is Certified Angus Beef grilled to order and served with tableside-tossed salad, vegetable and your choice of potato – au gratin, baked, or a one-pound, twice-baked potato.

The Rib Eye is served with bread, wine, roasted garlic, the nightly homemade soup, crisp salad tossed in a light & classic vinaigrette, the nightly fresh stew and vegetable and the famous french fries. Every meal is finished off with ice cream and coffee.
