Wrestling: Douglas Advances Two To State

RENO, Nev., February 9, 2015 — The Douglas High wrestlers had a strong performance at the regional tournament at Reno High School, advancing two wrestlers to the state tournament and placing seventh as a team over the weekend.

Zachary Singer earned a trip to the state tournament with a second place finish in the weight class. He was also awarded the NIAA Division 1 Outstanding Sportsmanship award given to one athlete from 12 schools

Ryland DeSomber earned a trip to state tournament with a third place finish after missing most of the season with a broken arm suffered during football season.

 

Joshua Jensen took 4th place in his weight class.

Kindel Isham, Will Williams, Isaiah Schat and Ian Pieller all missed the consolation finals and a trip to the State Tournament by one match.

The team finished in 7th place with 76 team points, an improvement over 10th
place last year with 32 team points.

For the first time in four yearsthe entire Douglas team made the second day of the tournament. Zach and Ryland leave Thursday afternoon to compete in the State Tournament at Winnemucca Event Center.
