Man wearing ‘Elvis’ wig robs Carson Country Market on Mica Drive

UPDATE: (10:32 a.m., Oct. 17) via Sgt. Pat Brooks, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office:

Minden, Nevada – On Thursday, October 16, 2014 at approximately 8:00pm, The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Carson Country Market 924 Mica Drive, for an armed robbery that had just occurred.

A white male described as approximately 25 years old, 505/180 lbs wearing a black (Elvis) wig, black glasses, dark hoodie, and dark pants and armed with a handgun robbed the clerk at the store.

The suspect entered the store and stood near a display cabinet of alcohol. When approached by the clerk, the male turned around with the gun in his hand and ordered her to the ground.

A male patron then entered the store and the suspect aimed the firearm at him and demanded money. When the patron presented a dollar, the suspect punched him in the face and left the store.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies, Nevada Highway Patrol and Washoe Tribal Officers immediately responded to the area and began searching the area.

The suspect has not been located.

UPDATE (8:48 p.m., October 16): Carson Now reports Douglas County and Carson City sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man, possibly dressed like Elvis, who may have used a gun to rob a convenience store Thursday night in the area of Mica Drive south of Carson City near the Douglas County line on the west side of Highway 395.

While details are unclear, the suspect was reportedly dressed like Elvis, had dark glasses, was said to be stocky and about 180 pounds, possibly armed with a gun, according to dispatch.

(8:24 p.m.) Officers in the Indian Hills area are responding to a report of a robbery just after 8 p.m. Thursday at the Carson Country Market on Mica Drive. We’ll be tracking down details as they become available.

Initial reports indicate the suspect may have fled to Highland Manor. A perimeter has been set up to Opalite Court and officers are sweeping the area. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies are receiving assistance from Carson City officers.

Correction: Earlier reports indicated the robbery happened at the Mica Drive Chevron. We’ve since learned that it occurred at the Carson Country Market, also on Mica.
