Prescription Drug Roundup set for Sept. 20 at various Carson Valley Locations

The annual Prescription Drug Roundup, an event encouraging proper disposal of medications to protect teens, children, pets and the environment is set for Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Drop off locations are the Gardnerville Walgreens (1342 Highway 395), the Minden Walmart (3770 N Highway 395 and Topsy Lane), the Sheriff’s Office Tillman Substation (1281 Kimmerling Road), the Topaz Ranch Estates firehouse (1476 Albite Road, Wellington) and Safeway (212 Elks Point Road, Round Hill).

Acceptable items include unused or expired prescription pills, over-the-counter pills and pet medications. Leave in original containers and mark out the patient name on the bottle.

Anyone unable to drop off medications on the designated roundup day can dispose of them in the collection box at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office or the Lake Tahoe Law Enforcement Building. The box is accessible Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
