The King fire near Pollock Pines jumped to 8,600 acres late last night and containment dropped from 10 percent to 5 percent. It should continue to kick smoke into the Valley and Northern Nevada.
Look for hazy skies today and a high of 91 degrees. Wednesday’s precipitation has been pushed to Thursday for now, when temperatures are supposed to drop into the 70s.
In today’s calendar, brought to you by k2 Pilates, Douglas County Public Library hosts Toddler Storytime (18 months to 3 years old) at 10:30 a.m. today and Preschool Storytime (ages 3 to 5) at 11:15 a.m.
The Esmeralda Farmers Market starts at 4 p.m. in Minden.
On the sports front, Douglas girls golf has a tournament in Reno this morning, Douglas girls tennis hosts Damonte Ranch at 3 p.m. and the boys tennis team makes the trip to Damonte at 3 p.m.
Douglas girls soccer hosts Reed at 3:30 and the Tiger volleyball team travels to Reno at 6 p.m.
