Softball: Douglas opens league season with 12-4 win

The Douglas girls softball team took control early Tuesday afternoon and never looked back, cruising to a 12-4 win over McQueen in Minden.

Pitcher Kali Sargent struck out eight and walked two in seven innings of work to pick up the win. She also went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBIs in the win.

Leonna Mortimer and Shaena Robinson each had two RBIs. Layne Waggoner and Kelly Sonnemann each had a double and Sonnemann and Robinson each had a triple. Corryne Diaz and Waggoner each drove in a run.

Mortimer stole a pair of bases and Nichole Dunn and Maddy Parks each stole one base.
