Good Morning, Carson Valley: March 4
by Joey Crandall, email@example.com
All-League and All-Region teams will be released at some point this week for the winter season. Congratulations go out to Werner Christen and his staff for winning Sierra League Coach of the Year honors. Christen, who has won the award in the past, has stated the award is more a recognition of the quality of the players in the program and the quality of the assistants on the coaching staff.
Certainly both were high-quality this season, but having followed Christen around for the better part of the past for five months, I can say the award is very well-deserved.
Along those lines, we finally finished the last episode of The Season last night and will be posting after this article publishes.
On the weather front, the chance of precipitation forecast for most of the week has morphed into a Wednesday night/Thursday morning-only proposition. Mostly sunny skies today with a high in the mid-60s and partly cloudy skies (I think they shift between mostly sunny and partly cloudy based on how optimistic the radar system is feeling that particular day) tomorrow with a high expected all the way up to 70 degrees.
It’s a day full of meetings today, with Main Street Gardnerville kicking things off with its monthly get-together at 8:30 a.m. at Sharkey’s Casino.
The Gardnerville Town Board will conduct its monthly meeting at 4:30 p.m. at the Gardnerville Town Hall, 1407 Highway 395. Information, 775-782-7134.
And the Town of Genoa Advisory Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the town meeting room, 2289 Main Street, Genoa. Information, www.genoanevada.org.
The Douglas County Public Library, Minden Branch, will host toddler story time for children ages 18 months to 3 years old from 10:30 to 10:50 a.m. Preschool story time will start at 11:15 a.m.
It’s all meetings and projects for us today, but we do have a hefty list of stories to get posted as well. Yesterday got swallowed up by scrambling to replace the Carson Valley Times newsroom washing machine. A big thank you to Marty’s Appliance in the Ironwood shopping center, who had us back on our feet with a new machine within four hours. We’ll get back on task today.
That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day.
