Douglas High campus “stay put” alert cleared after report of suspicious circumstances this morning

Today at approximately 9:10 a.m., Douglas High School was notified by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department that an unknown individual was seen near the round-about on Highway 88, wearing what appeared to be a bullet-proof vest and a  duffle bag.  Following its safety procedures, Douglas High School initiated its stay put alert and kept students and staff in classrooms while sheriff department deputies searched the building.  Upon further investigation, the sheriff’s department confirmed  that the unknown individual was a gentlemen wearing a weight vest and walking to the swim center.

The stay put alert was cleared at 9:35 a.m., and students and staff are safe and have resumed classes for the remainder of the day.
