The regional semifinal girls soccer playoffs games at Damonte Ranch this evening have each been moved back 15 minutes so that the official on the far side of the field won’t have to contend with the setting sun during the Carson-Reno game. Having been on that sideline at Damonte at sunset, I can say this move makes a whole lot of sense!

As a result, that means the Douglas girls kick off against Galena at 6:15 p.m. tonight, not the originally scheduled 6 p.m.

We’ll be out there, and I plan to have live score updates – which will appear on the right-hand side of any page on this site under the “Updates from the Newsroom” column. Or you can view them on Twitter at www.twitter.com/joeycrandall.

The Carson Valley Community Food Closet, 1255 Waterloo Lane Suite B in Gardnerville, will host a flu shot clinic today along with Walgreen’s and Immunize Nevada from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Adults and children, insured and uninsured are welcome.

There was a three-car accident at Johnson Lane and 395 yesterday just before 5 p.m. that snarled traffic for a while. The Record-Courier reported that no one was transported.

We’ll have the promised Scott Rokis story this morning. He sent us some brilliant work from last year’s Sea of Cortez adventure. You won’t want to miss this one!

On the weather front, look for a high in the low-60s today with partly-cloudy skies. Some fairly strong winds are expected tomorrow.

Rain is still in the forecast for early next week.

It’s a busy day in the CVT newsroom and we’re working on a number of fun features over the next few weeks. Keep checking in today as we have a full-slate of posts set for this morning.

That’s a full lid for today. Take care out there and have a great day!
