Playoff season gets underway tonight as the Douglas girls soccer team hosts McQueen in the first round of the regional tournament.

The semifinals would be Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Damonte Ranch against either Spanish Springs or Galena, and the regional finals are set for Saturday at noon at Bishop Manogue. Douglas football will travel to Reed Friday night in the first round of the regional football playoffs.

There is a bump in price for all playoff contests in the area, so be prepared for that. $10 general admission, $5 for students, $3 for seniors. Children 8 and under remain free.

The Douglas cross country teams will be in the hunt for state championships Saturday at Rancho San Rafael Park after the Lady Tigers won the regional title this past weekend and the boys team finished third.

The warmer temps from over the weekend will disappear for a few days as we’re looking at a high of 47 today and 53 tomorrow. That’ll jump back up into the low-60s for Wednesday through Friday. Overnight lows will continue to be frigid. As of this writing, it is 29 degrees outside.

We have a number of stories coming in today, including a check-in with Douglas grad Nick Cohee, who is busy preparing for ski season in Colorado. Cohee posted a number of wins in FIS races last year and was competitive on the Nor-Am circuit during his first full professional season.

We received a couple costume pictures from last week, which we’ll share here:

That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day!
