Good morning and happy October to everyone. Thank you for joining us for the start of our fourth month in business.

Today’s picture comes from Adrian Cobb, who caught this shot on his way to work Monday morning. He graciously allowed us to re-post it, and we think it’s incredible!

The Ranchos bowling alley, Silver Strike Lanes, has shut its doors, we learned yesterday. Owners Joe and Diana Shaffer said they will release a formal statement by Wednesday afternoon.

On the weather front, we’re looking at a high of 74 today. Temperatures will move into the high 60s by the weekend, and for now, overnight lows are expected to drop below freezing Thursday or Friday night.

Tuesday is a busy day on the sports front, with the Douglas girls golf team competing at Eagle Valley today at 11 a.m. The tennis teams take on Incline, with the girls playing in Minden at 3 p.m. and the boys heading out on the road.

Douglas volleyball hosts Damonte Ranch this afternoon at 6 p.m. (JV at 4:45, freshmen at 3:45) and the Lady Tiger soccer team takes on rival Carson in Carson City at 7 p.m. tonight.

That’s a full lid for today. As always, check back throughout the day for any updates. And if you come up with any photos, feel free to send them to joey@carsonvalleytimes.com or post to www.facebook.com/cvalleytimes.
