Splash Dogs national finals this weekend
Tamarack Junction in Reno is hosting the 2013 National Splash Dogs Championship Sept. 12 (Thursday) through Sept. 15 (Sunday).
Splash Dogs, which made a stop at the Carson Valley Inn in August, is the nationally recognized as the leader of canine dock jumping.
The four-day event opens with two days of qualifying competitions for all pet enthusiasts to give their dogs the opportunity to run down a forty foot ramp and jump into a 40 foot pool.
Trainers will be on hand to help first timers enjoy one of the fastest growing sports in the country. Saturday and Sunday will be dedicated to seeing which top dog in its group will be “one of the 12 Best in their Class” and qualify for Sundays finals.
Along with the Splash Dogs, Tamarack Junction has invited numerous local pet rescue groups, pet stores and non-profits to explain the many pet friendly programs available in Reno/Sparks and the surrounding area for our four-legged friends.
Sunday’s final competitions begin at 9 am with pre-event music by the Zephyrus Brass Quintet of Carson City. With dogs coming to Reno from all over the country, this event will be four-days of dogs, dog owners and animal lovers having fun at the Tamarack Junction.
