This year, the event was a luau theme, complete with mai tais, a roasted pig, and Club member entertainment. Marv Teixeira, former Carson City Mayor, was presented with the first ever “Distinguished Service Award” for his commitment to the Club and the youth in

Carson City. The founding Board members were also recognized, as well as city and state dignitaries. The event had two headline sponsors, Bodine’s and the Carson Nugget. Other sponsors included: Abowd & Rose Financial Group, Allison MacKenzie Pavlakis, et al, Bank of America, City National Bank, Coldwell Banker-Nevada Style, Kaempfer Crowell, Mass Mutual Financial Group, McDonald’s, Team Kassity, Miles Construction, Nevada Appeal, VT Williams & Associates (formerly Freeman and Williams), and Western Nevada Supply Company. Several other businesses and individuals also contributed to the event with cash and in kind donations, auction items, and volunteer time.

The event raised $254,000 for the Club, which is approximately 18% of the Club’s overall operating budget. The proceeds come from ticket sales, auction items, sponsorships and raffle sales. This is the only fundraiser the Club hosts annually and all proceeds help provide the important out of school programs that directly benefit the youth of Carson City.

Special thanks go out to the event’s committee chair, Susie Messina, who is also a Board Member of the Club.
