We had clear-ish skies at sunset Tuesday evening, and those have been replaced by nasty haze again this morning. That seems to be the new prevailing trend. Air quality has been firmly entrenched in the “unhealthy” range since 3 a.m. today and has already claimed this afternoon’s outdoor athletic contests.

The Rim Fire appears to be in its closing stages, having burned 237,341 acres. It is 80 percent contained and all evacuation advisories in Tuolomne County have been lifted.

On the weather front, look for a high of 86 today with isolated showers and thunderstorms between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. Temperatures should range in the mid- to high-80s through at least the middle of next week.
