Douglas County Junior Rodeo Saturday
The Douglas County Junior Rodeo, a longtime Valley tradition, is set for Aug. 10 and 11 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
Organizers are still looking for sponsors and volunteers to help carry the rodeo off.
The two-day rodeo had more than 100 entries counted heading into the weekend.
“We are so very grateful for some amazing people and businesses stepping up to help,” said Michelle Tems, who is organizing this year’s rodeo.”
The rodeo starts at 8 a.m. both days and runs all day. The age classes run the gamut from seniors to intermediates, then juniors and pee wees. The pee wees go through their events on stick horses and roping hay bales.
“It just a way to kind of introduce them to the sport,” Tems said. “They don’t necessarily have to have even done it before. It really ends up being a lot of fun.”
The Pee Wee events only run on Sunday.
Admission to watch the rodeo is free.
