Unless something drastic happens, 2013 won’t go down as one Nevada’s worst fire years. However, with approximately 120,000 acres burned to date, there is always a chance the area you plan on hunting this fall may have been impacted by fire. So, before you go afield this fall, it might be a good idea to check on the status of fires that have occurred near your chosen hunting destinations.
A dependable source of information on the status of wildland fires throughout the West can be found online at inciweb.org. In addition to written updates on a fire’s status, you also can find information about any closures that might impact your hunt and view maps showing a fire’s footprint so you can determine whether your hunt area has been affected by fire activity.
