Good Morning, Carson Valley!

The hay harvest and bailing is going on throughout the Valley.

It’s going to be hot today, hotter than last week, but not as hot as the weekend. For whatever that is worth.

We should expect a steady battery of thunderstorms and rain throughout the week as we navigate this last full week of July, so keep an ear on that emergency services scanner (Click Here) to keep alerted to any lightning/fire activity.

Out in front of us this week we have a number of features coming, starting with a look-in on what the people organizing the Heritage Park Community Gardens have been up to lately. They’ve got big plans getting bigger every year and it is really looking great out there. Story should be up later this morning.

Ron Harpin sent us some great photos over the weekend of the Little City Stage Race. Click on the links for Day 1 or Day 2.

Kathy Jo Young Kidd sent in some great photos of the Minden Ranch Rodeo’s main event Saturday night. You can see them by clicking here.

Speaking of rodeo, Minden’s Wyatt Denny wrapped up a stellar high school career Saturday night, taking fifth in the bareback at the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyo.

There’s nothing concrete on our calendar today, but the Nature Conservancy and the Carson Valley Trails Association will host a full moon walk at the River Fork Ranch (381 Genoa Lane) from 8:45 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday night. Hike is one mile and families can watch the moon rise.  For more information, visit carsonvalleytrails.org.

That’s it for this morning. We’ll be in and out with news updates and information throughout the day, so stay tuned. And, as always, any pictures or news items, calendar events or just about anything you want to share with our readers, feel free to send them (joey@carsonvalleytimes.com) or post them (www.facebook.com/cvalleytimes) as you see fit.
