While the Bison Fire effectively moved out of our view yesterday, the day was quietly active on the emergency services front in other areas Wednesday.

Crews responded to, and contained, a quarter-acre, human-caused fire on Topsy Lane at around 4 p.m. last night.

A small private plane landed with its gears up on the main runway at Minden Tahoe Airport at 11 a.m. There were no injuries and only minor damage was reported, but the main runway was closed for a period of time.

Today, we’re working on a feature about a longtime Valley family business that many people may have thought was long gone But they are making a comeback.

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning, meaning critical fire conditions, for Western Nevada from 11 a.m. through 9 p.m. today due to the gusty winds (30 mph) and low humidity.

This afternoon, the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce hosts its Business After Hours from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Minden Tahoe Airport.
