Good morning, Carson Valley
Here we are heading into Day 3 of the CVT.
The Lampe Park Farmers Market runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, but you’ll probably want to get there early as we’re in for some heavy rain from about noon to 9 p.m.
Douglas County Public Library will conduct its free storytime at Mormon Station State Historic Park from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Youth Services Librarian Kathy E. will read stories about magical rocks. Afterwards, children of all ages may paint a magic rock to take home.
The lightning kept the East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts busy yesterday afternoon, touching off eight small fires in and around the Pine Nuts and south Douglas County. The local firefighters were up to the task, as always, quickly containing each without threat to any structures.
Other than that, everyone is probably preparing for Fourth of July festivities tomorrow. Events are going on across the Valley, most notably at Minden Town Park, Mormon Station and Heritage Park in Gardveille (see our calendar). Make sure to take your camera wherever you end up and send us pictures from your adventures to firstname.lastname@example.org or post to Facebook. Double bonus points to anyone coming up with awesome fireworks pics (whether at the lake or in Carson). Hint: The Walmart parking lot, or the general Indian Hills area might allow you an interesting view while still being on the rim of the valley.
