The heat wave really starts to roll into stride today with temps reaching up to 100 and possibly higher, according to the National Weather Service.
One hundred-plus temps will continue through at least Wednesday, with the peak coming Tuesday at 103 degrees.
Overnight lows will range in the high 60s and low 70s. Thunderstorms and some precipitation are expected intermittently through the remainder of the week.
For now, the forecast is for the wave should break slightly for the Fourth of July, with a projected high of 95.
The heat wave in the Western United States is expected to continue for the next several days. Many locations will break daily records and even approach all-time records. One of the hottest areas will be Death Valley, California where temperatures will be near 130 degrees on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
