The East Fork Fire and Paramedics Districts, in cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management, are hosting the Compost Your Combustibles Wildfire Fuels and Recycling Program through July 7 at various Valley locations.

In an effort to reduce the wildfire fuels supply in the Valley, residents are encouraged to bring their natural vegetation yard waste to one of five locations: Johnson Lane Volunteer Fire Department at 1450 Stephanie Lane; Jacks Valley Elementary School’s West parking lot at 701 Jacks Valley Road; Topaz Ranch Estates at the end of Carter Lane; Genoa at 340 Genoa Lane and the Gardnerville Ranchos at 1280 Dresslerville Road.

The program has been made available through funding and cooperation by the Bureau of Land Management, East Fork Fire and Paramedic Districts, Douglas County School District, The Nature Conservancy, Topaz Ranch Estates General Improvement District, Johnson Lane Volunteer Fire Department, Bently Ranch, the University of Nevada – Cooperative Extension and Topaz Community Open Bible Church.
